My strong desire to motivate and encourage people is what led me to becoming a CrossFit coach. When I started doing CrossFit, I loved the program. When I saw how working out like this changed peoples lives it was an easy decision to become a coach. I love seeing the positive change that health makes in peoples lives. My favourite part of coaching is when I see somebody doing something that they thought they would never do again.
I have my CrossFit L1 certification and my MWOD certification. I have also studied Carl Paoli's material and attended his course on movement.
I love seeing that the mobility we do in the gym to prepare for our training, begins to restore functional range of motion to our bodies. The improved range of motion allows for pain free movement. This life changing impact is why I love what I do. My favourite part of coaching is when I see somebody doing something that they thought they couldn’t do. Seeing my members quality of life outside of the gym improve are the results I aim to provide.
I first walked through the doors of CrossFit Elmira in 2019. I was new to CrossFit, but intrigued by the movements and abilities of the athletes. After seeing some familiar faces and trying a workout I was hooked. I was not in good shape and in need of a dramatic change in my life for my overall health. The team and members at CrossFit Elmira made me feel welcome and quickly made me realize there is something much bigger to this community than the workout. I have been drawn to this community of hard working, like minded members, putting in their best effort every day to create a better version of themselves. There is something very inspiring about that and it keeps drawing me back.
I am a certified CF Level 1 Coach and really enjoy working with athletes to improve themselves through fitness. As a coach and member of this community it is very rewarding to see others achieve their goals and reach limits they thought were out of reach. The time I have spent in the gym over the last handful of years has changed my life dramatically. I look forward to embracing every opportunity and sharing that experience with others.
Being a multisport athlete with a passion for health and fitness, when I found CrossFit I was enamored by the methodology. CrossFit encompasses all things fitness; cardiovascular capacity, strength, community, nutrition and wellness.
I completed a bachelor's degree in kinesiology with a diploma in fitness and health promotion from the university of Guelph-Humber in 2021. Previously working as a strength and conditioning coach for the varsity athletes and personal trainer, I’ve always had a passion for helping others become the best version of themselves.
As a CrossFit L1 certified coach it’s my goal to help individuals push their boundaries and create meaningful change in their lives. I truly believe with the support of the CrossFit Elmira team our members can achieve their goals!
After several years of triathlon racing I was looking for something new to continue my fitness journey. While I felt reasonably fit in the domain of cardiovascular endurance, I felt I was lacking in the areas of strength and flexibility. My search brought me to CrossFit and I quickly realized the constantly varied, functional movement programming was very effective in achieving a higher level of overall fitness.
However, the most powerful aspect of CrossFit is the community. The loudest cheers in the gym are typically reserved, not for the 1st place finisher, but for the person fighting to get those last few reps in before the clock runs out. CrossFit Elmira is made up of an incredible group of people supporting each other to make themselves better today than yesterday.
I am a 3X Ironman finisher and have my CrossFit L1 certification. As a Masters age athlete I appreciate the challenges that age brings to our health and mobility. As a coach, it is very rewarding to help our athletes, of all ages, achieve their goals, regain mobility they may have lost and to accomplish things in the gym they, themselves, didn’t think were possible
I walked through the doors of CrossFit Elmira (CE) in 2014, knowing no one, and in no time at all I was hooked. Before, the gym had always been just a tool to increase my fitness level but CE changed that. A membership here not only increased my fitness and knowledge, it’s allowed me to create amazing connections with so many others. Since joining CE, I’ve completed the CrossFit Level 1 Certificate Course as well as the CrossFit Kids Certificate course. With my training and passion to help teach young girls the importance of health, I have started a thriving CrossFit Kids class at CE.
My goal is to teach these young participants the functional movements of CrossFit, working on technique and skill as we increase their strength. I strongly believe, and I am seeing it first hand with these young athletes, that being active is so incredibly important.
We work hard but even more importantly, we have fun while incorporating movement. I hope that as they grow up, the importance of movement and fitness stays with them, no matter where they are in their life.
The environment and culture at CrossFit Elmira is something I enjoy being a part of everyday. As a coach, I love seeing people challenge themselves and walk out of the gym knowing they accomplished their goals. It is my passion to see people reach the personal goals that they have set for themselves.
I have my CrossFit L1 certification and am enjoying the process of learning new skills that make a successful coach. I want to continue to do my part to make the gym a place people look forward to coming to everyday.
When I first joined CrossFit Elmira, I didn’t anticipate how quickly I’d get hooked. Growing up playing various sports, I always enjoyed physical activity, however when I stopped playing team sports, I dropped the ball on my fitness. I pushed myself to start and I joined CrossFit, not knowing most of the movements, and being new to the area, not knowing many people either. However, the environment at CrossFit Elmira provided me a space to learn new things, step out of my comfort zone, and ultimately improve my overall health while being surrounded by encouraging like-minded individuals.
Being a CrossFit L1 certified coach, my goal is to provide a space where people feel empowered to test their boundaries, learn new skills, and realize their potential. Specifically coaching the CrossFit Youth classes, my goal is to teach healthy lifestyle habits that can be sustained through later adolescence and adulthood. I aim to continue to provide a positive environment and gain new expertise to share with others.

No. CrossFit Elmira is not a competition floor. We are a training facility. Training and competing are very different. More often than not you will be asked to slow down and move better. Our motto at the gym is “more isn’t better, better is better”
Every member does their own workout, based on their own ability, using an appropriate weight or scale. This will create the correct stimulus leading to the right outcome so you can be successful on your fitness journey.
If finishing last in the workout is too humbling for you we aren’t the right fit for each other.
Yes you can. We will discuss your injury during your intake process. The classes are scalable for all fitness levels. We have members in class ranging from high school students to grandparents.
All forms of exercise have an inherent risk involved. CrossFit Elmira's coaches are trained to ensure that all risks are minimized. Injuries most commonly happen when people push themselves too hard, too fast and do not warm up correctly.
One of the strengths of the CrossFit model is that there is a coach guiding each class. There is always someone working with you to ensure you're moving properly and warming you up for the movements in that class.
Yes, but an open gym membership is for those who prefer to workout on their own.
Yes you are. Everyone is unique and our intake process is customized to each new member. It starts with a 20 minute one-on-one meeting to discuss your goals. Next we will decide if you need some personal training to get some intro workouts in before joining classes. This is usually between 1 and 5 sessions. After these intro session(s) you will be confident to join classes.
A traditional gym sells thousands of memberships to a facility that can handle hundreds of members. They do this because they are betting on you not showing up. At CrossFit Elmira we are betting on your success. We have a limited number of members that our facility can handle and we expect our members to be coming to class regularly to fill it up. There are no “filler” memberships to offset the membership costs.
Every day you attend you have a coach that knows your name and your abilities. The coached class is a comparable experience to personal training.
If you want to be part of a gym that is betting on your success and has an intimate coaching experience, this is the best deal around!
